His pseudonym "Oh!great" is a play on words. His real name, written in the Japanese order with the family name before the given name, is ŌGURE Ito (also romanized as OOGURE Ito), which is pronounced similarly to the Japanese rendering of the English words "Oh great," ōgurēto [oːɡuɽeːto], with the only difference being the extended E. Furthermore, "oh" can mean king in Japanese, making it possible to read the name as "the great king".
Characteristics of Ito's style include violent plots, the use of English words amidst kanji, and a parade of beautiful female characters. In 2006, he received the Kodansha Manga Award for shōnen for Air Gear. Ito also created the adult series Silky Whip (Official English Title). He also designed some of the alternate character outfits in the PlayStation 2 version of Namco's 3D fighting game Tekken 5, as well as a guest character in Soul Calibur IV named Ashlotte.

Once applied as MORITA Masanori’s assistant when he was a freeter, but didn’t get the job. NOGUCHI Koyuri was his assistant in Air Gear while YASHIROGAWA Takashi was on Tenjou Tenge.

Biography
He became a mangaka accidentally. While he was a simple employee, the pachinko caused him financial worries. In order to repay his debts, he sent drawing plates to a competition. He doesn't pocket the loot, but he still gets 10,000 yen. He resigned and at the age of 22 he began his manga such as Hell and Paradise (Tenjo Tenge), Majin-Devil or Air Gear. He also worked on a video game: Himikoden which he then adapted into a manga/anime. He also publishes short stories and has also published hentai manga.

| Koyomi Araragi, a third-year high school student, manages to survive a vampire attack with the help of Meme Oshino, a strange man residing in an abandoned building.
