Emerald (エメラルド, Emerarudo) is a real-life magazine focusing primarily on boys' love manga and anthologies.
Emerald was launched in 2014 with its Summer issue, and the magazine continues today. Emerald is released three times a year with a Spring (春の号), Summer (夏の号), and Winter issue (冬の号).
Emerald began serialization in August of 2014, at its start featuring many authors who had previously featured in Asuka Ciel and Ciel Très Très. Its name is based off of the fictional Emerald magazine in the Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi series. It is an exclusively print magazine, although some of the manga serialized in it are later released in digital formats at a later time in volumes.
Its flagship titles included the popular titles Junjou Romantica and Sekai ichi Hatsukoi, which moved to Emerald from Asuka Ciel magazine.
The real-life Emerald's original logo that was used from it's initial Summer 2014 release was retired after Spring 2023's release, going along with the in story events of the issue's Sekai-ichi Hatsukoi manga chapter: "The Case of Ritsu Onodera No.36", as pointed out by the magazine itself. In the chapter, it is decided that Ritsu Onodera will be in charge of a rebranding of the in-universe Emerald magazine. The first look at the logo was in the next issue cover preview in the Spring 2023 issue.
